Project Masters ranked #9 on BBJ’s “Fastest Growing Private Companies” List

Joining a prestigious group of growing businesses, Project Masters came in at #9 in a list of 50 as one of the fastest growing private companies in the Baltimore area. To qualify, a company must have had a minimum of $100,000 in 2006 revenue and must have been in business for at least 2 full years. As a project management training and consulting firm, Project Masters revenue increased by 80.63% from 2006 to 2007. 

When asked on the nomination form “What is the one benefit that you provide employees that costs little or nothing?” Ms. O’Koren did not have one benefit; she had three! Her response was featured next to the list, stating: “Flexible schedule, profit sharing and a relaxed office environment.” 

Project Masters was founded 12 years ago by April O’Koren. April is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 20 years Project Management experience in a variety of industries. She has extensive experience in software engineering, systems engineering, training and quality management. She earned an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Management Information Systems, and a BS with concentration in Computer Science, both from the Binghamton State University of New York. She is past President of the Project Management Institute, Baltimore Chapter and a board member of the Charter/Global Registered Education Providers for the Project Management Institute. In addition to being one of the few women at the owner level in the project management industry, she is a much sought after speaker, with topics ranging from Using Project Management to Start Your Business to Working Effectively as a Team.

Project Masters is an 8(a) women-owned company with a strong track record in helping government and commercial clients manage training, IT and other projects more effectively. Current and past clients include the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), McCormick and Company, National Public Radio, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Maryland Department of Budget and Management, Social Security Administration and many others.

Project Masters Announces New Vice President of Operations

(Ellicott City, MD) – PROJECT MASTERS, INC., a recognized leader in project management solutions, recently announced the appointment of Robert Ware as the company’s Vice President of Training and Operations.  In this role, Mr. Ware will be responsible for overseeing new and existing business within the commercial and government arena as it relates to project management consulting and training.  He will be responsible for developing new advanced project/program management training courses. 

Robert Ware, PMP

Robert Ware has over 30 years experience in design and implementation of automated information processing systems for government, educational and private organizations. Extensive experience in training and educating others in the concepts and use of Knowledge / Information Processing Systems as well as in managing information systems projects.

Over ten years experience writing course materials and delivering training in the area of Project Management. Project Management courses are registered under Project Management Institute’s PMI Global Registered Education Center for Project Management Professionals and are fully consistent with PMI Project Management Methodologies as presented in the Project Management Institute’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

Robert has provided training in Project Management Theory to a wide range of Government Agencies, Academic Institutions, National and International Corporations. Mr. Ware also provides training and consultation relative to implementation of Project Management Systems, Establishment of Standards and Business Processes, Design and Implementation of Project Management Offices, and development and use of tools and techniques necessary to institutionalize corporate knowledge gained through the project management process.

Mr. Ware has a deep knowledge of the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Models as well as the International Standard’s ISO-9000 series.

Mr. Ware’s approach to Project Management training emphasizes the philosophical principles upon which the Project Management Process is based. His courseware is designed to help Project Managers, Corporate Executives and Administrators (as well as other Project Stakeholders) gain a deeper understanding of “Why projects are managed as they are, using approved Project Management tools, techniques and methodologies.”

Robert has developed, conducted and analyzed training needs for various organizations including Baltimore Gas and Electric, The Bureau of National Affairs, National Public Radio and the US Department of Labor. He has written more than twenty training manuals focused on the areas of Project Management, Leadership, and Communication. These materials are used to deliver courses to corporations, government agencies, and academic institutions seeking training in these areas.
