Project management is both an art and a science and it takes skill to balance all aspects of project management. Project Masters offers an advanced course in Project Schedule Oversight to project management professionals as part of their Government Solutions class schedule.

March 24, 2011 (Columbia, Md.) Managing a project’s schedule is a vital part to project management. Without proper planning, oversight and tracking of a project’s schedule the overall performance of a project is threatened. Project oversight involves identifying problems as they surface and correcting them as well as developing insights and skills to recognize problems or potential problems in the future. Project scheduling is an essential part to successful project completion.

The course offered by Project Masters is an advanced course in Project Schedule Oversight. In the course participants will learn how to apply the critical path method, use PERT methodology, estimate accurate activity durations, apply scheduling terminology, apply the project schedule life cycle, use network diagram and Gantt charts, set up project constraints and use the WBS to develop your schedule. The course is geared towards professionals with knowledge of project management and advanced registration is required.

Project Masters to Support Department of Energy Project Execution and Integration Contract

Columbia, MD – KeyLogic Systems along with Project Masters announces the award of a prime contract from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) for Project Execution and Integration. The five year contract is valued at $95 Million.

“We are honored to support NETL and their mission to deliver technological solutions that simultaneously address our nation’s three overarching energy issues: affordability, supply security and environmental quality,” said KeyLogic Program Manager, Carey Butler.

NETL is one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratories. NETL – “the ENERGY lab” – focuses on America’s economic prosperity, which requires secure, reliable energy supplies at sustainable prices. NETL implements a broad spectrum of energy and environmental research and development programs through its own research staff and through funded research at other labs, universities, and industry that will return benefits for generations to come.

The team consists of prime contractor, KeyLogic Systems along with subcontractors; Deloitte Consulting LLP, URS Washington Division, Project Masters, LAD Studio and the Iridium Group LLC.  They are supported by a consortium of universities including; West Virginia University, University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Virginia Tech, Penn State University (PSU), and Spelman College.

Specifically, this team will provide support to NETL throughout the energy technology research and development lifecycle, including: Acquisition Planning and Execution; Project Control, Oversight, and Assistance; Validation Assessments and Studies; Project Reviews; Project-Specific Information Management; Dissemination and Interface with Program Outreach; and Project Management Training and Process Improvement.

Project Masters ranked #9 on BBJ’s “Fastest Growing Private Companies” List

Joining a prestigious group of growing businesses, Project Masters came in at #9 in a list of 50 as one of the fastest growing private companies in the Baltimore area. To qualify, a company must have had a minimum of $100,000 in 2006 revenue and must have been in business for at least 2 full years. As a project management training and consulting firm, Project Masters revenue increased by 80.63% from 2006 to 2007.

When asked on the nomination form “What is the one benefit that you provide employees that costs little or nothing?” Ms. O’Koren did not have one benefit; she had three! Her response was featured next to the list, stating: “Flexible schedule, profit sharing and a relaxed office environment.”

Project Masters was founded 12 years ago by April O’Koren. April is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 20 years Project Management experience in a variety of industries. She has extensive experience in software engineering, systems engineering, training and quality management.
